One Author, One Kirkwood with Kashana Cauley

Join us for a special evening with acclaimed author and television writer Kashana Cauley, the featured guest for this year’s One Author, One Kirkwood community read. Cauley will discuss her newest novel, The Payback, a sharp and entertaining story that has earned widespread praise since its publication in July 2025. The novel was named one of NPR and Electric Literature’s Best Books of the Year and was also recognized as a Best Book of Summer 2025 by outlets including the Boston Globe, Vanity Fair, and Publishers Weekly, as well as an New York Times Editor’s Choice.

Cauley is also the author of The Survivalists, published in 2023 and named a Best Book of the Year by the BBC, the Today Show, Vogue, and many others. In addition to her fiction, she is an accomplished television writer who has written for The Great North, Pod Save America on HBO, and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Her essays and commentary have appeared in major publications such as The Atlantic, Esquire, The New Yorker, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and the New York Times, where she was previously a contributing opinion writer.
