Every year the Kirkwood Public Library receives funding through many different grants to enhance library programs and services. The items below were awarded as part of a 2024 Technology Ladder Grant which began in May 2024 and runs through April 2025.
Want to try VR, but don’t know if it is worth the cost? We have several new Meta Quest 2 VR headsets you can borrow to try at home. These devices are preloaded with a variety of games, including titles ranging from sports, nature exploration, Dr. Who, Jurassic World and Star Wars. There is something for everyone! Each device checks out for 3 weeks and can be renewed if nobody else is waiting.
Available for an extended checkout of 3 months, these iPad Pro editions are preloaded with apps for multiple needs and circulate with a mobile hotspot. Patrons can sign into their own Apple accounts and use any of the preloaded apps. The devices are wiped between users to keep your information safe! And each comes with it’s own mobile hotspot so you can stay connected on the go.
We also have fifteen new Windows 11 computers – twelves in our computer area on our main floor and three in the tween area in the Children’s Room. Each of these computers has access to Chrome, Firefox, Adobe Reader and VLC player. Our tween computers also have access to Minecraft for your game playing delight. Also provided as part of this grant, is access to Microsoft Office 2021.
This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the LSTA as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
