In honor of Kirkwood Public Library’s 100th anniversary, we’re asking you to create art for a special-edition Centennial Celebration library card! Winning designs will be chosen for each age group: children, teen and adult.

Contest Criteria

Artwork will be judged on the following criteria.

Theme: Celebrate 100 years of Kirkwood Public Library! Designs should feature some aspect of the library.

Creativity: Have fun! The library has been part of the Kirkwood community for 100 years. Let’s celebrate what makes it special.

Clarity: Keep in mind that the design must work well in a small format. Simple, bold designs often translate best.

Eligibility: Open to all ages!

Contest Rules

Designs may be drawn, painted, or computer designed. All submissions must be the artist’s original work. Designs generated wholly or in part by artificial intelligence (AI) tools are not eligible. Remember to make it colorful. Artwork may be submitted through this online entry form with artwork attached as a JPEG, PNG, or PDF.

An artist may only submit one design. The layout must be about a square, ideally 4″ wide x 4″ high. It will be reduced to 2” x 2” to fit on the front of our standard library card. (credit card size and key ring card).

Entries will be accepted through Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

Three winning designs, one from each age category, will be selected and officially announced at Summer Reading Kick-Off Day in May 2026.

VHS Conversion Service Important Notice

To be eligible for our VHS conversion service you must live in the library taxing districts* of Kirkwood Public Library or other MLC libraries. To help verify your eligibility, we have moved our VHS registration form onto our library’s online catalog. This new page requires sign in with your library card and will only display to patrons who match our eligibility requirements as indicated on your library account.

Follow the steps below to access and complete the form.

1. Click the registration button below. You will be directed to an error page on the library’s online catalog.

2. Click Sign In and enter your library card number and PIN.

If you are eligible for conversion service, you will be granted access to complete the registration form.
In you are ineligible for conversion service, you will encounter another error message merely stating that you do not have access to the page.

If you are not granted access to the page but believe that you should be, please contact the IT dept at (314) 821-5770, option 5 to verify that your library account is accurate.

Teen Summer Volunteer Groups

Group 1: Summer Reading Assistant: Help us give out Summer Reading prizes, create coupon booklets, help patrons sign up for Summer Reading at the public computers, and answer questions about the program.

Group 2: Youth Services Event Volunteer: This is perfect for someone that wants to help us put on events for kids and teens! Duties include program preparation, helping at specific events such as storytime, and assisting during library programs with staff.

Group 3: Behind the Scenes Volunteer: A fit if you enjoy independent projects like shelving books, helping us keep the room inviting and tidy, refilling book displays, helping with behind the scenes Summer Reading prep including couponing, supply preparation, and more!

Group 4: Office Assistant: Work in the library admin office on light clerical duties such as scanning and stickering books. Great if you want some office/organizing experience!

Group 5: Mural Project: Help us design a library mural on the outside fence. If you love creative projects, painting and teamwork, this group is for you!

Request for a Library-Sponsored Event

The Kirkwood Public Library maintains a meeting room for Library sponsored programs consistent with its mission “to inspire a lifelong commitment to learning and creativity, for a more prosperous and connected community.” The Kirkwood Public Library welcomes outside organizations or individuals interested in presenting at the Library. Events must be offered virtually and may be done so at the discretion of library managers. This selection will be based on public service needs and other activities scheduled.

Submit a Large Format Print Request

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT SUBMITTING MULTIPLE REQUESTS

If you have a large order with various settings and need to make MULTIPLE REQUESTS in a short time, please use the COMMENTS field to indicate the beginning and end of the total order. Staff will wait until the entire order comes through as indicated before beginning to process your request.

FOR EXAMPLE: on the first request type "ORDER BEGINS" in the comment field. On the last request type "ORDER ENDS" in the comment field.

Complete the form below to submit your Large Format Print request to the Kirkwood Public Library.

Printing is performed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
General turnaround time is 24-48 hours, depending on staff availability.
Requests are only printed Monday through Thursday and early on Friday. Requests submitted Friday afternoon through Sunday will be processed as quickly as possible beginning on Monday.
Upload as many files as you like, however large requests may be verified prior to printing.
Files should, if possible, be formatted to fit the desired print size. Small files can be scaled, but will distort and/or pixelate.
Upon completion, you will be notified via email.
Prints will be available to pick up at the Customer Service Desk and are held for 15 days after completion.
Once picked up, another print request may be submitted.

If you would like to pay for your print with a credit card, a valid Kirkwood Public Library card (or a library card from one of the Municipal Library Consortium libraries) is required for 3D Printing. Fees for printing will be charged to your library account and can be paid via credit card by logging into your account online. If you wish to pay cash or do not have a card from one of the MLC libraries, do not enter a library card number.

If uploading your own files - once submitted, a librarian will contact you with an estimate of time to print and cost for approval. The minimum cost to print is $1.00 or 1 hour of printing.

If selecting from the 3D Print Binder - your selection will contain pricing information. You will be contacted when your print is ready to pick up.

Only cash payments are available for 3D Prints.

ARTICLE V. Collection Development Policy Of The Kirkwood Public Library
Section 6. Community Spotlight -- The Kirkwood Public Library values local authors and encourages the inclusion of their work to the collection. Authors who are residents of Kirkwood or non-resident authors whose work features Kirkwood, MO may submit their book to the collection. Advanced Reading copies and copies with non-traditional library- binding will not be added to the collection. Generally the work must be published in the last two years. Contributed items become property of the library and are subject to all of the Library’s Withdrawal Criteria and Gift policies.
