Support Your Library

The Library’s highest priority is to inspire a lifelong commitment to learning and creativity which we believe leads to a more prosperous and connected community.

While tax dollars provide us with a strong financial base, your generous donations are used solely for Library innovations and services that are beyond the daily operating budget such as an expanded Home Borrowing Program, additional Hot Reads and Hot DVDs, as well as support for our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program and Summer Reading for all ages. Thank you for your support!

Ways to Donate

Making a donation to the Library is even easier. Look below for a list of donation categories. Click the button for those that interest you. Then complete the form to make your donation!

Stretch Your Donation Out

If giving seems like too much at one time, consider setting up a smaller donation on a monthly recurring basis. Merely set up to make a donation at a regular interval and go!

What Kind of Donation Can I Make?

Annual Appeal – Centennial Celebration

Ninety-nine years ago, a group of Kirkwood citizens had a vision to open a public library in Kirkwood. They achieved that goal, opening the first tax-supported library in St. Louis County on December 11, 1926. Kirkwood Public Library was located in City Hall. Head librarian Eugenia F. Becker set the stage for service and growth. In 1940, the library relocated to its own building at 140 E. Jefferson, which remains our address today.

We hope that you will take part in our Centennial Celebration this year by visiting the library and attending events. This milestone is all about you, our community!

We are asking for your support to help us continue to provide an excellent library and collection to Kirkwood. Donate today to ensure the future of the Kirkwood Public Library.

General Fund

Donating to our General Fund is a great way to support your Library! With these donations, we can support a wide variety of library initiatives. Supported projects include but not limited to: technology, library materials and programs for adults and other building projects.

Endowment Fund

The Endowment Fund is utilized by the board of trustees to award grants to library employees for special projects or purchases that add to the Library’s mission and vision. Make a donation to the Library’s Endowment Fund, or consider leaving a donation to the fund in your will.

Memorial / Tribute

Make a donation to the Library in Memory of a lost loved one, or as a Tribute to someone special in your life. Setting up a recurring donation is a great way to honor their legacy on a monthly basis. A Memorial or Tribute makes a wonderful gift!

Sponsor a Paver on Library Lane

Our project was completed in September 2024. This vibrant garden space enriches our library community, provides opportunities for outdoor programming, and expands on our sustainability efforts which will impact your family and future generations to come.

We have several hundred engraved pavers, made possible by generous donations. But do not worry, there are still many more pavers that need sponsorship.

Click this button to learn more and to sponsor your paver today!

Sponsor a Shelf

Your donation of $100 gets your name on a plaque on one of the library’s many shelves. This makes a great gift as well!

Pet Memorial

Honor the memory of a special pet by donating to the Library. Your donation will purchase a book about animals in their memory.

Books & Beyond is a Gift Shop managed and staffed entirely by volunteers.

The shop is located on the main level, right inside the entrance, across from the Customer Service Desk. All proceeds from the shop benefit the Kirkwood Public Library. Call (314) 821 5770, option 8 for more information.
